Jerrold Lewis Nadler is an American lawyer and politician from the state of New York. A resident of Manhattan's Upper West Side and a member of the Democratic Party, he has served as a U.S. representative since 1992. From 1992 until 2022, Nadler's district covered the west side of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, being numbered the 17th district, then the 8th district, and then the 10th district starting in 2013. Since 2023, he has represented the 12th district, which covers both the west and east sides of Manhattan from 14th Street to 100th Street. Before his election to Congress, he served eight terms as a New York state assemblyman. Nadler is the dean of New York's U.S. House delegation and is known for his liberal record and close local ties.
